TOMATO PEPPER RASAM

FAT-FREE AND SPICY WAY TO BEGIN A WINTER MEAL. CAN BE HAD WITH ANY INDIAN BREAD, RICE OR CAN BE CONSUMED DIRECTLY.

Ingredients
3 large tomatoes
2 tablespoon tamarind pulp
1 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
Salt to taste

For the Rasam powder
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds
8 peppercorns

For the Garnish
1 tablespoon chopped coriander


Method

For the Rasam powder
Combine all the ingredients in the microwave-safe bowl and microwave for two minutes at 70% power.
Remove and cool completely. Grind into a fine powder. Keep aside.

How to proceed:-
Pierce the tomatoes with the folk and place on microwave-safe plate and microwave on high for four minutes.

  1. Remove the skin and discard and match the tomatoes likely to be the fourth.
  2. In another microwave-safe bowl microwave 3 cups of water on high for two minutes.
  3. Add the match tomatoes, turmeric powder, chili powder, Asafoetida, Rasam powder, turmeric pulp and salt and microwave on high for four minutes serve hot and garnish with coriander.
